Living in Beaufort SC for the last 36 years has been an incredible ride! The Lowcountry of South Carolina is one of the most pristine beautiful places on the planet! We have traveled the world and to the Caribbean in our boat on many occasions. I will say, coming home and crossing one of the many bridges (or coming under one) makes you excited to live in this glorious place. I always say, how lucky are we to come home to this! As a native of the Buckhead area of Atlanta, I always hoped to be able to live on the coast. After teaching school at Pace Academy for a few years, I finally got that chance. My husband is a third generation, native Beaufortonian whom I met on Hilton Head in 1985. I moved here and began my Real Estate career in 1987 on Hilton Head. After one year, we left and came "home" to Beaufort.

We have raised two children here, one is in IT in Asheville NC and an avid mountain bike racer and climber, and the other a Pilot with American Airlines based in Charlotte, NC, living in Greenville SC. He is a graduate of The Citadel. Both would tell you there was no finer place for a young boy to grow up. They learned the wonder and beauty of nature and became avid boaters, kayakers, fishermen and lovers of our estuaries and still come as often as possible to entrench themselves in it all. 

For us, the outdoors and the hospitable people is what makes Beaufort. 

The Marine Corps Air Station and Parris Island are the heart and soul of our town. We fortunately have lifelong military friends and colleagues and my sons have had so many mentors along their respective journeys. This is a town that HELPS others. I could not be more proud of our community. There are so many local organizations to get involved in, including our arts community including theatre and symphony, Open Land Trust, Beaufort Historical Society (we are the 2nd oldest town in SC, established in 1711) to charitable organizations including CAPA and CODA (my favorites) and so much more. There is so much to do. Don't let our small size fool you.
